Termite Damage

Termite damage in a home is a common and serious problem. Whilst appearing superficial at first sight, upon investigation by a professional the damage can be overwhelming.

If termite damage can be seen it usually means the damage is already widespread as most termite damage is not visible until it becomes extensive. Termites can cause major structural damage to a property and any evidence of termite damage must be inspected immediately so as to prevent any further and costly damage from occurring.

The first areas termites can be seen to strike are timber gates, timber deckings and timber patio areas. If left untreated the termites can move onto the timber roof framing, the cabinets and timber door frames of the property and serious damage can occur.

Termite DamageLoose timber of any sort should not be stored around or up against the external walls of the property as this will encourage termites to become active.

Termites are not just present in rural environments; they can also be found throughout the metropolitan area so anything you can do to prevent them from being active around your property is an advantage.

Termites should be chemically treated in accordance with a licensed pest controller's recommendation.

Most properties are treated when the construction is completed and are then left unprotected until termite damage is found. Most property chemical treatments last between 2-5years before they need re-treating.

There should be a sticker transfer inside the electric meter box which will indicate the last time the property was treated. If there is no sticker inside the meter box you should always assume the property is due for a re-treatment.
